Google Nest and Home device specifications Google Nest Help

The whole point of Google Home devices is to give Google Assistant voice commands. Now you'll need a free HDMI input because the normal Chromecast only has an HDMI connection. But the benefit is that not only can you play music, you can tell your Google Home Assistant to play videos from any of your video libraries. It's really convenient and it can sound, frankly, just as good as anything else you play on your big home stereo. Alternatively, your app may show a cast button in the top area of the screen, so you can press that one instead of choosing the Google Home or Nest device from the list.

The first one is called Media EQ, which automatically tunes the speaker depending on what you’re listening to (music, podcasts, audiobooks, etc.). Simply put, the EQ will sound markedly different when you’re listening to your favorite album compared to when Google Assistant is voicing a reply. According to Google, this Nest speaker is 75% louder and has a 50% stronger bass response than the original Google Home. If you’re very budget conscious and don’t really care about sound quality that much, something like the Nest Mini will be more up your alley. It’s a great device that lets you use all of Assistant’s smarts, works great for playing podcasts and audiobooks, and is decent when it comes to playing music. Just don’t expect the bass to get your blood pumping, since the device is very small.

Once removed, set it aside somewhere dust free so you can reapply it at the end with the original adhesive. Press the button you'll find at the bottom of the screen titled Enable Pairing Mode. Find the song, playlist, or podcast you want to listen to. You'll need two things—a Google Home or Nest device and the Google Home app (Android/iOS).

It an analog audio tap into the mini speaker with resistors to match impedance and line level voltage. So my guess is when i build this there will be no delay. Since the Google Home or Nest is now connected to your device via Bluetooth, you should be able to listen to your tracks directly through the speakers. If the sound is still coming from your phone, drag down the notifications bar and switch the Audio output to your speaker. At the bottom of the screen, you'll notice a button that says Enable Pairing Mood. Go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone or tablet and choose the Google Home or Nest device to pair them together.

Before continuing with the disassembly, observe the photos and see the connection for the speaker. Scroll down to Speaker, tap it, and wait a little while for your phone to find the device and connect to it.

But Home will also interact with Chromecast to control some aspects of your TV. I don't believe it has an audio out jack but I haven't looked for one either. It's not only voice commands that can help you listen to music on your Google Home or Nest device. You can also send music to your device and use your Google Home Mini as a Bluetooth speaker . With some apps, this is easier than with others. After a bit of digging, SnekTek decided to splice the new aux port into the cord that pipes music to the Home Mini’s built-in speaker.

You can also ask it to play your favorite playlist, a whole album, or podcast. The speaker will use your selected music service. Make sure your mobile phone or tablet is on the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast Audio or speaker with Chromecast built-in. You can ask your Google Home or Nest to adjust the volume or play a different song.

Google Nest Audio: Design

It’s bigger, sounds better, and is faster to respond to voice commands. It also has an attractive price and can be paired with an additional speaker for a stereo audio experience. But despite being larger than the Google Home, it’s still relatively compact, which limits the volume output as well as the bass. So if you have a larger-than-average room, a bigger and more powerful speaker may be more suited for you. TechRadar’s Truls Steinung thinks the Nest Audio is better than its predecessor. The audio quality is better, although not quite as good as Google wants you to believe.

Connect directly to its speaker output, then you're doing just what you do if you connect your computer's speaker output to the aux input of your stereo. Aux is intended to take speaker voltage levels. Now, if you have a full home theater receiver, you might think of getting a Chromecast or a Chromecast Ultra instead of a Chromecast Audio. And if you're connecting to an existing stereo, receiver, or amplifier that has RCA inputs, you just need a cable that converts a three-and-a-half millimeter jack into stereo RCA.

It can also take charge of your TV's audio, and this begs the question of How to use the Google Home Mini as a TV Speaker and plenty more besides.

We know that it's not just your smartphone that is used to play music, but also your computer. So, making sure that you listen to your favorites via the Google speaker is imperative.
