The house currently stands on the National Historic Register. The exterior of the house is covered with shingles on the upper portion, clapboards on the lower portion, and patterned slate on the roof. Tower, wings, gables, and porches are massed together and topped with an eyebrow window. The interior has fine, richly molded woodwork upstairs and down, created by Victorian craftsmen led by world-famous architect Mr. Karl Bitter, who duplicated many of the designs at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, including the beautiful coffered ceiling in the Library. Prior to completing medical school, Dr. Benjamin graduated as valedictorian with a B.S. In journalism from the respected William Allen White School of Journalism at the University of Kansas. His track and field and cross country coaching experiences at KU and OSU helped shape his philosophy of seeing each patient as an “athlete,” with the goal of helping maximize their potential as part of a multidisciplinary team. He utilizes this concept when working with every patient at Rise in Malibu. Dr. Benjamin is also a certified IGMCA Mental Game Instructor and Life Coach.

Dr. Lucille Thomas is a board-certified family physician who practices comprehensive primary care.
